Putting My Experience
Aileen Bhandari is a lifelong resident of Chicago and a Democrat. She is a second generation Indian and Filipino American, raised by her loving and hardworking parents on the Northwest side of Chicago with her 5 siblings. Throughout her career and Ms. Bhandari has dedicated her time and efforts to diversity and social justice. For the last 20 years she has participated in voter registration drives, pro bono clinics, immigration and naturalization clinics, expungement expos and served the homeless on Thanksgiving Day in the Uptown neighborhood.
Over 17 years as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau Felony Trial Division, Ms. Bhandari has prosecuted a litany of felony cases including Murder, Attempt Murder, Sexual Assaults, Domestic Violence, Gun Violence and Financial Crimes. She has handled well over 300 bench trials and over 40 jury trials. Ms. Bhandari has been found Qualified, Recommended, or Highly Recommended by 13 different Bar associations for Circuit Court Judge and found Qualified by the Chicago Bar Association.
